The startup city was founded by the entrepreneur and investor Erel Margalit, who led the heads of the authorities in writing the plan to make the Eastern Galilee a center of excellence in the field of Foodtech. Margalit, who also heads the most prominent venture capital fund in Israel, JVP, has been promoting the process and its implementation in the Galilee region for the past 5 years.

 

Margalit Startup Galil's Innovation Center is currently being established in the city center of Kiryat Shmona, as part of a network of innovation centers deployed in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and New York. The Innovation Center focuses on the areas of Foodtech and Agrotech and serves as an address for entrepreneurs, companies, corporations and investment and research bodies.

Margalit Startup City Galil's flagship program is Studio Galil, a unique growth and investment program for companies in the fields of Foodtech and Agrotech, which annually promotes 8-10 new companies and assists in fundraising and connecting with strategic clients and has already signed several successes at the national level with over 40 senior Israeli high-tech executives.
